Municipal Capabilities Assessment Implementation

The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is seeking proposals from qualified implementation partners to assist in the rollout of the Municipal Capabilities Assessment and the development of the Municipal Capabilities Index (MCI). This initiative aims to enhance the operational capabilities of municipalities across South Africa, ensuring they can effectively serve their communities and meet governance standards. The project will span 39 months and requires expertise in municipal governance, data analysis, and capacity building.

The selected partner will be responsible for designing and implementing assessment frameworks, collecting and analyzing data, and developing the MCI. This role is crucial for identifying strengths and weaknesses within municipal structures and providing actionable insights to improve service delivery. The project will not only contribute to the enhancement of municipal functions but also foster accountability and transparency in local governance, ultimately benefiting citizens through improved public services.
