Impact Evaluation Framework Development

The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) is looking to appoint a service provider to create a practical Impact Evaluation Framework aimed at evaluating the effectiveness and impact of its research, legislative, and stakeholder engagement initiatives within the South African mining industry. This framework will facilitate a systematic assessment of various interventions, ensuring they achieve their intended outcomes and contribute to improved mine health and safety performance. The project includes a pilot phase focused on the Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) collision prevention regulatory requirements, allowing for real-world testing of the framework's applicability and effectiveness.

The selected service provider will be responsible for conducting a thorough review of existing MHSC initiatives, developing tailored evaluation criteria, and creating data collection tools and reporting templates. The project aims to generate meaningful evidence on the effectiveness of MHSC interventions, identify barriers to implementation, and refine the framework based on pilot findings. This initiative not only enhances the MHSC's accountability but also supports continuous improvement in occupational health and safety standards across the mining sector.
