Transnet seeks to establish an approved list of funders for supplier funding solutions over five years, aimed at enhancing financial access for qualifying suppliers within its supply chain.
Transnet aims to create an approved list of financial institutions and development finance institutions to provide structured funding solutions for suppliers, particularly Exempted Micro Enterprises (EMEs) and Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSEs). This initiative is designed to alleviate working capital constraints that hinder suppliers' ability to mobilize resources and fulfill contracts effectively. Funders will be required to offer tailored financial products linked to verified Transnet contracts, ensuring that funding is accessible and aligned with suppliers' operational needs.
The appointed funders will be responsible for their own credit assessments, risk evaluations, and compliance checks, ensuring that they provide flexible funding solutions that support supplier growth and contract execution. Transnet will facilitate access to this funding by verifying relevant contracts and purchase orders, but will not influence funding decisions. This program not only aims to improve supplier access to finance but also promotes inclusive economic growth by increasing participation from black-owned, women-owned, and youth-owned suppliers within the Transnet supply chain.
This tender is suitable for financial institutions, development finance institutions, and alternative funders capable of providing structured funding solutions to suppliers, particularly those focused on supporting EMEs and QSEs.
