Community Nursery Establishment Services

The South African National Parks is inviting bids for the establishment of a community nursery aimed at enhancing local agricultural practices and promoting biodiversity within the core area of the new Grassland National Park. The selected service provider will be responsible for constructing various nursery structures, including plastic tunnels for vegetable seedlings, shade tunnels for vegetables, and medicinal plants. This initiative is designed to serve as a learning hub for local communities, providing mentorship in sustainable agriculture, enhancing food security, and fostering local economic development through the cultivation and sale of seedlings.

The scope of work includes the construction of three distinct nursery structures, each with specific requirements for materials and design. The service provider must ensure compliance with national building regulations and safety standards. The nursery will not only provide a space for the propagation of plants but will also act as a training ground for local farmers and traditional healers, ultimately contributing to community upliftment and environmental sustainability. This project aligns with SANParks' vision of inclusive conservation and aims to address social challenges such as poverty and unemployment in the region.
