Basic Snake Handling and Bite Treatment Training

The National Research Foundation is inviting bids for a service provider to conduct essential training on basic snake handling, identification, and bite treatment. This training is aimed at equipping 8 staff members with the necessary skills to safely manage snake encounters and respond effectively to snake bites. The training must be delivered in English and can take place either at the service provider's location in Hoedspruit or at the WITS Rural Facility in Mpumalanga.

Key requirements for the training include covering topics such as snake species identification, snake behavior, prevention of snake bites, and first aid procedures for snake bites, spider bites, and scorpion stings. The course must be accredited by recognized bodies, and participants should receive certificates upon completion. Additionally, the service provider is required to supply training materials and provide reference letters from previous clients who have received similar training. This initiative not only enhances staff safety but also contributes to a safer working environment in areas where snake encounters are a risk.
