The tender seeks a service provider to conduct research and develop the Inclusive Cities Charter for the State of the Cities Report (SOCR). The project is to be completed within four months, focusing on spatial, social, and economic inclusivity in South African cities.
The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) is inviting proposals from qualified service providers to undertake comprehensive research and develop the Inclusive Cities Charter as part of the State of the Cities Report (SOCR). This initiative, stemming from a collaboration with the South African Cities Network (SACN), aims to assess the progress of spatial transformation across South African cities over the past 25 years, with a particular focus on the last five years. The successful bidder will analyze key trends, identify barriers to inclusivity, and provide actionable recommendations for future urban planning and policy interventions.
The scope of work includes conducting a literature review, gathering and analyzing spatial and socio-economic data, and engaging with city officials and stakeholders. The final deliverables will consist of a detailed chapter that integrates research findings, maps, and graphics, along with a set of strategic recommendations for national, provincial, and municipal stakeholders. This project not only aims to enhance understanding of urban inclusivity but also seeks to guide future interventions that promote equitable and sustainable urban development in South Africa.
This tender is suitable for research firms, urban planners, and consultancies with expertise in spatial planning, socio-economic analysis, and urban policy development. Businesses with experience in collaborative projects and a strong understanding of South African urban dynamics are encouraged to apply.
