The Playhouse Company invites tenders for the appointment of a single service provider to conduct fault diagnostics, engineering reporting, and the replacement of a voltage transformer (VT) at its 11kV incomer switchgear. The selected contractor will be responsible for a thorough investigation into the recent failures of the VT, which have resulted in inaccurate municipal billing and potential risks to the municipal electricity network. The service provider must coordinate with eThekwini Electricity for isolation and testing, ensuring all work adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant SANS standards.

The scope of work encompasses multiple phases, starting with a diagnostic investigation that includes pressure testing, secondary injection testing, and fault tracing. Following this, an engineering report must be compiled, detailing the root causes of the failures and providing actionable recommendations for remedial work. The appointed provider will then supply and install a replacement VT, perform rigorous testing and commissioning, and deliver a comprehensive close-out report. This project is critical for restoring normal metering and ensuring compliance with municipal requirements, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the municipal 11kV network.
