Power Factor Correction Equipment and Installation

City Power Johannesburg (SOC) Ltd has invited bids for the provision of power factor correction at the Crown Substation in Booysens Reserve Road, Johannesburg. The tender is a supply-and-construct contract covering the full scope of works for a distribution substation upgrade, based on the detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and project scope documents supplied with the bid. The work spans multiple disciplines, including site clearance and earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations for transformers and busbars, storm water drainage, perimeter fencing and access gates, and road and paving works. It also includes building services such as the switchroom and control room, fire detection and suppression systems, and ventilation. The tender is governed by the CIDB Standard Conditions of Tender and uses the 90/10 preference point system, with 90 points allocated to price and 10 points to specific goals covering black ownership, black women ownership, black youth ownership, and black people with disabilities ownership. Compulsory requirements include a valid CIDB contractor grading of 7EP or higher and a valid COIDA certificate. Bidders must submit a tax compliance status PIN or valid tax clearance certificate, CSD registration, financial statements for the past three years, a signed Declaration of Interest, and a SHERQ/OHS Act section 37(2) agreement. Bids must be delivered physically to the tender box at 40 Heronmere Road, Reuven, by 11:00 on 4 December 2026, as electronic or faxed submissions are not accepted.
