The Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB) requires suppliers for miscellaneous laboratory supplies, including glassware, tube racks, Vortex mixers and tube holders, delivered to its Centurion laboratory. The contract includes a three-year parts, service and maintenance package for the Vortex mixers. Closes 03 November 2026.
The Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB), a Schedule 3A public entity established under the Perishable Products Export Control Act 9 of 1983, invites quotations for the supply and delivery of miscellaneous laboratory supplies for its laboratory at 119 Gerhard Street, Centurion. The PPECB manages and monitors the cold chain for the export of perishable products from South Africa, and these supplies support its testing and sample-handling operations.
The requirement covers the following items: 1,000 x 250ml glass honey jars with gold lids for storing homogenised samples; 10 x 50ml and 5 x 100ml Grade A amber glass conical volumetric flasks with lids; 40 x polypropylene white tube racks for 50ml centrifuge tubes (24-tube capacity); 40 x 50-hole plastic vial racks for 16mm test tubes; 2 x Vortex-Genie 2 vortex mixers; and 4 each of SI-H506 horizontal 50ml tube holders, SI-H512 horizontal 15ml tube holders and SI-V524 vertical microtube holders. Bidders must also provide a three-year parts, service and maintenance and warranty package covering the major components of the Vortex mixers, clearly indicating which parts are included. Prices must include delivery to the PPECB laboratory. Bidders must state their lead time from purchase order date, with a 5-week lead time scoring higher than 8 weeks.
Evaluation follows the 80/20 preference point system, with 80 points for price and 20 for specific goals (black-owned, black women-owned, and EME/QSE status). Functional evaluation assesses product compliance, lead time, warranty, service coverage and references, with a minimum functional threshold applied. Bidders must be registered on the Central Supplier Database, hold a valid tax compliance status PIN, and submit the SBD forms, B-BBEE certificate or EME/QSE affidavit, and proof of CSD registration. Quotations are submitted by email to PortiaJ@ppecb.com by 16:00 on 03 November 2026, with a 90-day bid validity period. Note that the purchase order terms refer to a 12-month guarantee on goods, and the RFQ references a three-year warranty as a scoring criterion.
Suppliers of laboratory consumables, glassware, plasticware and scientific equipment, including authorised distributors of Vortex-Genie and SI-branded laboratory accessories. Businesses must be CSD-registered, tax compliant and able to deliver to Centurion within the stated lead time. Black-owned, black women-owned, EME and QSE suppliers are encouraged to apply, as they can claim specific-goal preference points. Suppliers able to provide a three-year service and parts plan for Vortex mixers are particularly well placed.
