The Ekurhuieni Housing Company (EHC), which develops and manages rental housing for low- and moderate-income households in the City of Ekurhuieni, is seeking a suitably qualified and financially capable insurance broker to manage its identified risk and short-term insurance requirements. The appointment is for a period of thirty-six (36) months. The successful broker will be responsible for arranging insurance cover, advising on risk management, and supporting EHC with policy administration throughout the contract period.
Key deliverables include compiling a risk profile of the entity in consultation with EHC management and recommending suitable insurance coverage. Following appointment, the broker must propose a strategy and action plan to secure the best insurance coverage offering value for money and to prevent losses based on that risk profile. The broker must review the insurance programme annually, three months before each policy expires, and must facilitate and evaluate insurance and underwriting details, including any exclusions. On request, the service provider must also provide financial advice on EHC's short-term insurance portfolio within agreed timelines, and assist EHC in interpreting insurance policy documents and related rules and regulations.
Bidders should note the evaluation process, which is conducted in four stages: (1) mandatory disqualifying compliance requirements; (2) administrative compulsory documents; (3) functionality evaluation, where a minimum score of 80 out of 100 points is required to proceed; and (4) pricing and B-BBEE specific goals, where the highest-scoring bidder on specific goals will be appointed. A compulsory site briefing was held on 27 October 2026 at 11:00 at the Germiston address. Completed bids must be hand-delivered in a sealed envelope marked with the tender description and reference number EHC/INS10/2026 to the red tender box at the corner of Victoria Street and Linton Jones Street, Germiston (next to the Fire Station), by 11:00 on 19 November 2026. Late submissions will not be considered. Bids remain valid for 120 days after the closing date.
