Energy Trading Risk Management Solutions

Eskom is inviting submissions from qualified vendors, advisors, and technology providers to address critical gaps in its Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) capabilities. This Request for Information (RFI) focuses on acquiring tools, models, workflows, and enablement services necessary for the integration and enhancement of the existing Enerweb ETRM system. The project is structured in three phases: Phase 1 involves immediate go-live capabilities, Phase 2 encompasses controlled expansion over the first two years, and Phase 3 aims for a mature operational state beyond year three.

The solutions sought must facilitate essential functionalities such as auction market trading, deal capture, continuous market trading, and risk analytics. Vendors are expected to demonstrate their ability to provide best-of-breed tools or an integrated suite that can seamlessly interoperate with the existing Enerweb ETRM system. Additionally, the RFI outlines the need for support in assessing current skills, developing job profiles, and establishing governance frameworks to ensure effective implementation and operation of the trading and risk management functions.

By participating in this RFI, vendors will contribute to Eskom's strategic goal of enhancing its trading capabilities within South Africa's emerging competitive electricity market landscape.
