Demographic Surveys for Informal Settlements

The Stellenbosch Municipality is inviting tenders for the appointment of qualified service providers to undertake comprehensive demographic surveys in informal settlements and backyard structures within its jurisdiction. The primary objective is to collect and maintain accurate household data to assist in planning and providing essential services to these communities. The appointed service providers will be responsible for managing, supervising, and executing the surveys, ensuring thorough public participation and engagement with local stakeholders.

The scope of work includes conducting door-to-door data collection using compatible electronic devices, mapping informal dwellings, verifying existing household information, and compiling a detailed database. Additionally, the service providers are expected to train local unemployed youth under the Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) to enhance community capacity. The successful bidders must demonstrate relevant experience and provide a project proposal detailing their methodology for executing the surveys effectively. This initiative aims to improve the living conditions of residents in informal settlements by aligning demographic data with municipal databases and service delivery plans.
