Tourism Corridor Local Area Plan Development

The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform & Rural Development invites proposals from qualified service providers, firms, or consortiums to develop a Local Area Plan for the Lake Xhariep Tourism Corridor. This initiative will span across the Umsobomvu Local Municipality in the Northern Cape, the Koponong Local Municipality in the Free State, and the Walter Sisulu Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape. The selected provider will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments, engaging with local stakeholders, and formulating strategic plans that promote sustainable tourism and economic growth in these municipalities.

The scope of work includes extensive research on the current tourism landscape, identification of key attractions, and development of actionable strategies that align with local and national tourism goals. The plan should address infrastructure needs, marketing strategies, and community involvement to ensure that the benefits of tourism are maximized for local residents.
