Laboratory Services for Water Quality Monitoring

The Phumelela local municipality invites bids for the provision of laboratory services aimed at monitoring water quality across its jurisdiction for a duration of 36 months. The successful bidder will be responsible for collecting, preserving, analyzing, and reporting on water samples from various sources, including potable water, wastewater, and effluent discharges. All analyses must adhere to the South African National Standards (SANS 241) and be conducted by a SANAS-accredited laboratory, ensuring compliance with international standards for both chemical and microbiological testing.

The scope of work includes monthly sampling and analysis of water from treatment works, reservoirs, and distribution networks, as well as wastewater treatment facilities. The laboratory must maintain a comprehensive database of results and submit data to the Department of Water and Sanitation's BLUE DROP and GREEN DROP IRIS systems. Bidders must demonstrate relevant experience and provide proof of SANAS accreditation, along with a qualified team led by a registered professional natural scientist. This project aims to enhance water quality management and ensure compliance with health and environmental standards, ultimately benefiting the community's health and safety.
