Once-off appointment of an SAPCA/PCIPC-registered pest control contractor to remove bird nests and droppings from roof voids (approx. 320m²), fumigate affected areas, and install bird-proofing at the George Central Office of South Cape TVET College. Closing 11 November 2026.
South Cape TVET College is seeking a registered pest control service provider for a once-off project at its Central Office, 125 Mitchell Street, George. The scope covers the removal of live birds, nests, droppings, feathers and associated debris from the roof void and ceiling area, which totals approximately 320m². The contractor must inspect the affected roof area to establish the extent of nesting and identify access points, then clean the affected areas, apply an approved fumigation treatment to eradicate bird lice, and dispose of all waste in accordance with environmental and health regulations.
Bird-proofing forms a core part of the work. The contractor must supply and install approximately 50 linear metres of bird-proofing measures, including 12–13mm bird mesh netting that prevents entry while allowing airflow, along with pinewood framing (4500mm x 38mm x 38mm) and 12mm round bar. Compliance requirements are strict: the service provider must be registered with the South African Pest Control Association (SAPCA) and/or the Pest Control Industries Professional Council (PCIPC), and all pest control and fumigation operators must be officially registered with the relevant council. Because fumigation involves hazardous gases, the contractor must adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable PPE requirements, and local environmental regulations. On completion, a completion report with photographs of the treated areas is required to confirm that cleaning, fumigation, waste removal and bird-proofing have been successfully carried out.
Bidders must attend the compulsory site briefing on 29 October 2026 at 11:00 at the Central Office, 125 Mitchell Street, George. The request for quotation (RFQ BB 56/2026) requires submission of a valid SARS Tax Compliance Status PIN, CSD registration number, CIPC company documents, BBBEE certificate or sworn affidavit, a current municipal account or valid lease agreement, shareholding breakdown, and completed SBD forms (SBD 1, 4, 6.1, 8 and 9). The price must be VAT-inclusive and cover all services and delivery costs, with the quote held open for 60 days. Preference points are awarded for specific goals, with the highest allocation for bidders located in the Garden Route area (10 points), followed by the Western Cape (5 points). Payment is made by electronic transfer on submission of original, correct and complete tax invoices, with payment within 30 days of a valid invoice. Bids are closing on 11 November 2026 at 11:00 and can be submitted to the bid box at the Central Office or by email to scm@sccollege.co.za. Bidders should confirm the scope and quantities with the college's contact persons before submitting a quote.
This tender is best suited to licensed pest control companies registered with SAPCA and/or PCIPC, with operators who hold current council registration and experience in bird control, fumigation and hazardous-chemical handling under OHS regulations. Businesses based in the Garden Route or Western Cape will benefit from additional preference points. Bidders should have their SARS tax compliance, CSD registration, BBBEE documentation and CIPC records in order before applying. General cleaning or building maintenance firms without pest control accreditation are unlikely to meet the compliance requirements. Note that the tender documents refer to both 'South Cape College' and 'South Cape TVET College', and the pricing schedule describes the work as both ceiling and roof-void removal, so bidders should clarify the exact scope at the compulsory briefing.
