Pilot Boat Hire - Port of Durban

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), an operating division of Transnet SOC Ltd, has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the hire of a pilot boat at the Port of Durban for a period of twelve (12) months. The requirement is structured on an as-and-when-required basis, meaning the vessel will be deployed for pilotage operations only when shipping movements demand it, and the contract value will be drawn down against actual use. The pilot boat must have a gross tonnage between 100 and 200 grt and must be capable of rendering pilot transfer services for both the incoming and sailing of foreign vessels during daytime and night-time operations.

Key technical and operational requirements include a safe landing and disembarkation platform free of obstructions to allow pilots to embark and disembark securely. The vessel's crew must be capable of recovering a person who falls overboard, and a recovery drill must be demonstrated to Transnet before the contract commences.
