Fire Extinguisher Servicing

Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality has issued a Request for Quotation (Quotation No. IYM01/10/2026Q, Notice No. 134/2026) for the servicing of fire extinguishers at its two operational units, Cradock and Middelburg, for the 2026/2027 financial year. The contract covers a total of 282 extinguishers located across a wide range of municipal sites. These include administrative offices, the Town Hall, the Corporate Services halls, libraries (including Michausdal, Masizame and Vusubuntu), the Traffic Department, the Technical Services workshops and stores, Public Works, the Fire Department, the Youth Centre, community and health facilities, and several electrical substations (including Geelbooi, Michau Road, Alwyn and Mortimer Road). The extinguisher types specified include CO2 and foam units, with capacities ranging from 1.5 kg to 9 kg. The scope covers the servicing of all listed units at both locations, so the successful bidder must be able to service equipment across the full geographic area and at each individual site.

The municipality will evaluate quotations using the 80/20 preferential point system. Points are awarded for locality, with preference given to enterprises based within Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality, followed by the Chris Hani District Municipality, the Eastern Cape, and South Africa. Up to 10 points are available for 100% Black-owned firms, subject to submission of a valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit. A municipal account reflecting the bidder's status is required to claim locality points, and failure to attach a B-BBEE Status Level Certificate results in the loss of preference points. Mandatory documents include a CSD report, a SARS PIN or tax compliance certificate, certified copies of directors' identity documents, a municipal utility bill or lease agreement, and the MBD 4 and MBD 9 declarations. SBD forms will not be accepted, and bidders who submit them will be disqualified. Quotations must be signed or stamped with the company stamp, remain valid for 60 days from the closing date, and be submitted in a sealed envelope. Payment is made within 30 days after delivery of goods or services in line with the municipality's Supply Chain Management policy.

Quotations must be placed in the bid box at the Registry Office, IYM Offices, No. 1 JA Calata Street, Cradock, 5880, before 12:00 on 27 October 2026. Email submissions are not accepted. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered. The municipality reserves the right to accept any quotation, including one that is not the lowest, to award the contract in full or in part, and to reject all quotations without providing reasons.
