Purchase and Removal of OB Stock

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, through its Investment Recovery section, invites tenders for the once-off purchase, removal and collection of various lots of OB stock located at Komati Power Station in Mpumalanga. This is an open disposal tender in which the successful purchaser acquires the listed goods and assumes full responsibility for their safe collection, handling, removal and transportation from the site. Items are sold in their current condition with no guarantee or warranty on workability or condition, so prospective buyers are required to inspect the stock before tendering. A compulsory clarification and viewing meeting will be held at Komati Power Station on 27 October 2026 at 10:00, and suppliers must register their attendance by 26 October 2026 before 16:00. Personal protective equipment must be worn on all Eskom sites during viewing.

The scope of work requires the purchaser to provide qualified labour, suitable certified plant, machinery, equipment and transport. Bidders must obtain an Eskom permit before commencing work, notify the site agent on completion so the job can be signed off, and keep the site free of littering and rubble throughout. Portable firefighting equipment must be available during all cutting and dismantling operations, and no on-site accommodation is permitted. All work must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and Eskom's contractor health and safety requirements (standard 32-136), and the Eskom life-saving rules apply to all personnel. Payment is due to Eskom within five days of the sale, and goods are released only after payment is received and the buyer has obtained a removal permit. Eskom accepts no liability for theft, damage or personal injury during removal.

The opportunity suits businesses in scrap recovery, salvage, industrial dismantling and used-equipment trading that have the resources to manage heavy removal operations safely and within a short timeframe. Mandatory returnables include a valid SARS tax clearance certificate, a B-BBEE affidavit or verification certificate, a second-hand goods certificate from SAPS or a licensee, SBD 4 and integrity declarations, CIPRO documents, CSD registration, a valid COIDA letter of good standing, an authority to submit a tender, and environmental and safety requirements including an EMS policy, emergency preparedness plan, OHS plan, baseline risk assessment and signed Annexure B. Bidders are evaluated 80% on best price and 20% on B-BBEE. Offers remain valid for 90 days after closing, and tenders must be emailed to Informaltendering@eskom.co.za by 10:00 on 29 October 2026, with clarification questions sent in writing to the asset disposal officer.
