Accounting Services for Farmers

The Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture is inviting bids for the appointment of a panel of qualified accounting service providers to support farmers in all six districts of the province. The selected service providers will be responsible for assisting farmers with financial reporting, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and facilitating access to funding through improved financial management practices. This initiative is part of a broader effort to commercialize farms and revitalize irrigation schemes, ultimately aiming to enhance the sustainability and profitability of agricultural operations in the region.

The scope of work includes preparing annual financial statements, submitting tax returns, and ensuring compliance with relevant bodies such as the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC). Service providers will also conduct assessments of selected farms, identify gaps in financial management, and provide training to farmers to improve their financial literacy. This project is expected to last for 12 months, with a focus on delivering timely and accurate financial information to support farmers in their operations.
