The Office of the Public Service Commission (OPSC) Northern Cape Provincial Office is procuring a biometric system to control access to its premises and to record staff attendance. The approved procurement specification describes biometric access control as a means of restricting people and vehicles from entering defined areas by using barriers and verifying identity. The system is required to identify and authenticate individuals using unique biological traits, specifically fingerprints, facial recognition or voice recognition, and it may also accept access cards. The scope of work covers the supply of biometric hardware and access control software, the installation of readers and associated equipment at the designated entry points, system configuration, user enrolment, integration with existing building infrastructure where applicable, testing, commissioning and handover.
