George Municipality seeks a quotation for one cross-cut office shredder (approx. 10+ users, 10,000 sheets/day), with delivery, installation and a 3-year machine warranty. Quotations close 13 November 2026 at 12:00.
George Municipality, through its Supply Chain Management Unit in the Financial Services Directorate, has invited quotations (Quotation No. GMQ011/26-27) for the supply, delivery and installation of one new office shredder. The machine is specified as a high-capacity cross-cut shredder for shared office use, designed for 10+ users with a recommended throughput of about 10,000 sheets, 500 credit cards and 50 CDs per day. Key specifications include P-4 cross-cut security (4 x 30 mm particles), a sheet capacity of 32 sheets (A4/70gsm), a 1,600-litre bin capacity, a 6-minute duty cycle, continuous operation, and the ability to shred staples, paper clips, credit cards and CDs. Additional features requested include jam-prevention technology, auto start/stop, a bin-full indicator, auto-stop on bin full, thermal overload protection, and a 220-240V, 50/60Hz power supply. The specified warranty is 3 years on the machine and a limited lifetime warranty on the cutter. Bidders must supply a firm delivery period, and prices must remain valid for at least 60 days.
The quotation is evaluated using the 80/20 preference point system, applicable to values between R30,000 and R300,000 (VAT included). Price accounts for 80 points, B-BBEE status level for up to 10 points, and locality (proof of a staffed, operational office within the George Municipal area) for up to 10 points. Bidders must submit a valid original or certified copy of their B-BBEE certificate, proof of address, a valid SARS tax clearance certificate (required for transactions above R30,000), municipal account status, certified copies of directors' identity documents, and the completed MBD forms (MBD 1, 4, 6.1, 8 and 9) along with the Certificate for Municipal Services. The successful bidder must register on the Central Supplier Database (CSD). Quotations must be submitted in a sealed envelope, clearly marked with the quotation number, and placed in the tender box at the Civic Centre, York Street, George, by 12:00 on Friday, 13 November 2026. Late, posted, faxed or emailed quotations will not be accepted. Quotation documents are free of charge on the municipal website (www.george.gov.za), or can be collected from the Supply Chain Management Unit for a non-refundable fee of R70.15. Enquiries may be directed to Ms L. van der Walt at 044 801 6384 or lvanderwalt@george.gov.za.
Note for bidders: the document contains a naming discrepancy. The specifications refer to the Model 425Ci, while the pricing schedule refers to the Powershred 452CI. Bidders should clarify the intended model with the contact person before submitting a quotation, as bids must comply with the specifications to be evaluated. The municipality is not obliged to accept the lowest quotation, may reject any quotation, and may appoint an alternative bidder. Quotations will not be considered from persons in the service of the state, provincial government or municipality.
Suitable for registered suppliers and dealers of commercial office equipment, particularly authorised resellers or distributors of cross-cut or high-capacity office shredders, and businesses able to deliver and install in George. Bidders should be CSD-registered (or willing to register if awarded), tax compliant with SARS, and able to provide a valid B-BBEE certificate. Businesses with a staffed and operational office within the George Municipal area will receive locality points, which can improve their score. Small, medium and micro enterprises (EMEs and QSEs) with a strong B-BBEE status level are also well placed to compete. Persons in the service of the state, or in any municipality or provincial government, are excluded from bidding.
