AIDC seeks service providers for 36-month on-site inspection, servicing and annual load testing of automotive workshop equipment, including hoists, jacks, chassis benches and pallet jacks, across three Gauteng sites. Providers must supply certified test reports and SAFE/FAIL status labelling. Quotes are evaluated on an 80/20 price and B-BBEE basis.
The Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC), the developmental agency of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency, has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ, reference PR00000016433, project A0173) for the on-site servicing and load testing of equipment at its facilities. The contract runs for 36 months and covers three locations: the Winterveldt Enterprise Hub in Winterveldt, and the Manufacturing Centre of Excellence and Trade Test Centre, both at Automotive Supplier Park, 30 Helium Road, Rosslyn, Pretoria. The equipment in scope includes chassis bench pumps, chassis benches, vehicle post hoists (2-post and 4-post, 4000kg), telescopic and hydraulic jacks (3 ton and 20 ton), gearbox carriers and pallet jacks.
The appointed service provider will be required to conduct an annual detailed visual and physical inspection of each item, perform preventative servicing in line with manufacturer recommendations and applicable standards, and check mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and safety components, including emergency stops, limit switches and hydraulic hoses, cylinders and valves. Functional testing must precede annual load testing, which must be carried out using calibrated test equipment or load weights and recorded in line with manufacturer specifications. Each item must be classified as SAFE/PASS, UNSAFE/FAIL or requiring corrective action, labelled accordingly, and supported by service reports, load-test certificates and recommendations for repair or replacement. Pricing must be submitted per site and per item for Years 1 to 3, with annual travel costs and a provisional contingency sum of R80 000 for equipment failure, which must be included in the total bid. Prices must be firm, exclude VAT in the schedule with VAT shown separately, and remain valid for 90 days.
Evaluation follows the 80/20 preference point system, with 80 points for price and 20 points for B-BBEE status level (Level 1 to 4). Bidders must submit a SARS PIN, a valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit, SBD 4 (Declaration of Interest), SBD 6.1 (Preference Points Claim Form), a fully completed pricing schedule, and a signed Integrity Pact. Responses must not copy any AIDC personnel, including the SCM official, as this leads to disqualification. Submissions are due by 11:00 on 28 October 2026 by email to quotations@aidc.co.za. Bidders should note that the RFQ's pre-qualification criterion refers to lifting machinery companies, so providers should confirm they meet this requirement before submitting.
Certified equipment inspection and testing companies, lifting machinery specialists, and mechanical or hydraulic service providers with experience in vehicle hoists, jacks and automotive workshop equipment. Companies must be able to provide calibrated load-testing equipment, qualified technicians, and certified reporting, and should hold a valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit to claim specific-goal points. Businesses operating in Pretoria or Gauteng are well placed to meet the site-based requirements and travel-cost provisions.
