The KZN Department of Public Works & Infrastructure invites SITA RFB 740 accredited suppliers to quote for 50 units of 8GB DDR4 desktop RAM, including installation by a Lenovo authorised warranty provider at Oliver Tambo House, Pietermaritzburg. Closing date is 28 October 2026 at 11:00; 80/20 preference applies.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Public Works & Infrastructure (DPWI), Head Office, is seeking quotations from SITA accredited service providers registered on the RFB 740 Transversal Contract for the procurement and installation of 50 units of 8GB DDR4 RAM for desktop computers. The goods are to be delivered and installed at the Department's Head Office at Oliver Tambo House, 191 Prince Alfred Street, Pietermaritzburg 3201. Suppliers must provide the detailed product specification from their distributor, and each unit must carry a minimum 12-month warranty. The technical specification calls for standard DDR4 memory operating at 1.2V.
The evaluation follows a three-phase process. Phase 1 assesses administrative compliance, including correctness of bid documents and registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD), together with tax compliance requirements. Phase 2 sets mandatory requirements: bidders must submit three reference letters for similar projects of comparable value with their quotation, and installation must be performed onsite by a Lenovo Authorised Warranty service provider. Failure to meet these mandatory criteria results in immediate disqualification. Phase 3 applies the 80/20 preference point system, allocating 80 points to price and 20 points to specific goals, with the 20 points awarded for at least 100% black ownership supported by a sworn affidavit signed before a Commissioner of Oaths. The Department reserves the right not to award to the lowest bidder and will conduct a detailed risk assessment before award.
Quotations must be submitted on the official bid forms, with firm prices including VAT, valid for 120 days from the closing date. Bids close on 28 October 2026 at 11:00 and must be deposited in the tender box at the Lower Ground Floor (Foyer), 191 Prince Alfred Street, Pietermaritzburg. Posted, faxed, telephonic, telegraphic, and e-mailed bids will not be accepted. Technical queries may be directed to Mr Nhlakanipho Sibiya (033 260 4040 / 033 260 3738), and bidding procedure queries to Mr Sifiso Mncwabe (033 355 5577). Bidders should note the requirement to register on the CSD and SITA RFB 740 database, and that the Department cautions suppliers against scam solicitations requesting fees for quotation documents.
Businesses that are SITA accredited service providers registered on the RFB 740 Transversal Contract and the Central Supplier Database; Lenovo Authorised Warranty service providers able to install onsite in Pietermaritzburg; and suppliers able to provide three reference letters for similar-value projects. Black-owned enterprises (100% black ownership with a sworn affidavit) will benefit from the specific goals preference. Small IT resellers and hardware integrators in KwaZulu-Natal are particularly well placed to respond.
