The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has invited bids for the supply and delivery of ceilometers, precision instruments used to measure cloud base heights and atmospheric boundary-layer structure. The required equipment must capture accurate data on cloud and mixing layer heights, inversion and boundary layers, and nocturnal stable layers near ground level. These measurements support weather observation, forecasting, air quality assessment, and climate research.
