Transnet seeks a supplier to supply, install, test and commission Wheels Press Brake Machines, including supporting tooling, for its Wheels Business in Durban. Bids close 27 November 2026. Bidders must accept Transnet's NDA, Master Agreement and Supplier Integrity Pact.
Transnet SOC Ltd has issued a Request for Proposal (Reference TE/2026/06/2072/6536/RFP) for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of press brake machines for its Wheels Business in Durban. The scope covers the complete delivery of the machines together with the tooling needed to support their operation. The tender was published on 5 November 2026 and closes on 27 November 2026. The published notice does not disclose an estimated contract value, so bidders should confirm budget and payment terms through the full RFP pack.
The tender package includes three annexures that bidders must review. Annexure F is a Non-Disclosure Agreement covering confidential information shared during the bid, which survives for five years. Annexure C is the Master Agreement that will govern any resulting contract. Its key terms include a 30-day payment cycle from receipt of a valid, undisputed tax invoice, a 12-month calibration requirement for measuring and test equipment, inspection rights for Transnet before final acceptance, and warranty and defective-goods provisions. Subcontracting requires Transnet's prior approval, and no more than 25% of the contract value may be subcontracted to an enterprise with a lower B-BBEE contributor level, unless it is an Exempted Micro Enterprise. The Master Agreement also requires suppliers to maintain valid B-BBEE, tax compliance and insurance certificates throughout the contract, and it sets out penalties for non-compliance with service levels, subcontracting commitments and job creation commitments. Note that the template Master Agreement attached to this tender refers to a different agreement reference and to diesel locomotive components, so bidders should confirm the applicable Schedule of Requirements in the RFP before pricing. Annexure E is the Transnet Supplier Integrity Pact, which commits bidders to anti-corruption, anti-collusion and fair-dealing principles. Bidders must confirm acceptance of it in the RFX Declaration Form, and it will form part of any concluded contract.
For the successful supplier, this opportunity offers a defined industrial equipment contract with a major state-owned enterprise and the possibility of repeat business in engineering and manufacturing support. Bidders should plan for strict compliance with Transnet's governance requirements, including restricted-supplier checks, conflict-of-interest declarations, and railway-related safety and quality standards where applicable. Applicants should prepare evidence of technical capability, installation and commissioning experience, after-sales support arrangements, and tooling availability, and should ensure their compliance documentation is current before the 27 November 2026 closing date.
Suited to OEMs, authorised distributors and agents of press brake and sheet metal forming machinery, and to industrial engineering firms with proven experience in installing and commissioning heavy machinery. Businesses that can supply tooling, provide technical training and offer after-sales service in KwaZulu-Natal will be well placed. Bidders should hold valid B-BBEE, tax clearance and Transnet vendor registration, and be prepared to accept the NDA, Master Agreement and Integrity Pact. Smaller firms may participate as subcontractors if Transnet approves them, but the 25% subcontracting limit and B-BBEE rules apply. Businesses without manufacturing, installation or commissioning capability should not apply.
