Swellendam Municipality has invited tenders for the supply, installation, servicing, repair and replacement of air conditioners across its facilities for a three-year contract period. The scope covers the full lifecycle of cooling equipment, from new unit supply and installation through to routine servicing, breakdown repairs and replacement of end-of-life units. This is a multi-year service arrangement, giving the successful contractor a sustained maintenance relationship with the Municipality and recurring work throughout the contract term.
Bidders must meet several mandatory requirements. At least one employee must hold a valid safe gas-handling certification for working with refrigerants, obtained from an accredited training facility. Technicians must hold valid trade certificates as prescribed by the South African Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (SARACCA) and SAQCC Gas. The company, or full-time personnel, must have at least two years of experience in the installation, repair and servicing of air conditioners, and bidders must complete the prescribed schedule of experience. Tenders must include a valid Tax Compliance Status PIN issued by SARS and be submitted only on the prescribed tender documents. Failure to supply all required supplementary information may result in the tender being declared non-responsive.
Tender documents are available from the Supply Chain Management Unit at 11 Lind Street, Swellendam, on payment of a non-refundable deposit of R759.20 (VAT included). Sealed tenders, clearly marked with the tender number and description, must be deposited in the Municipal Tender Box at the same office before 11:00 on 13 November 2026, after which bids will be opened in public. Late tenders and tenders submitted by email or facsimile will not be considered. Evaluation uses the 80/20 preference point system, and bids remain valid for 150 days from the closing date. Technical enquiries must be submitted in writing to the designated official. Bidders should also note that extraordinary traffic conditions may occur from time to time in the area due to wind turbine transport.
