Sanitation Infrastructure Construction

The Department of Education, through the Department of Public Works, is seeking a qualified contractor to construct new sanitation infrastructure at Esiphiva Primary School. The project covers the design-to-construction delivery of ablution and sanitation facilities, together with the associated external works required to make the facilities functional, accessible and integrated with the existing school site. Scope is expected to include site establishment, earthworks, foundations, superstructure, plumbing and drainage connections, fixtures and fittings, finishes, and external works such as paving, stormwater management and service connections, as detailed in the tender documentation.

Bidders must hold a CIDB contractor grading of 5GB or higher in the relevant construction category. The contract period is six calendar months from appointment, so contractors must demonstrate capacity to mobilise promptly, manage programme risk, and deliver within the stipulated timeframe. Tender submissions are expected to comply with the standard requirements for public sector construction procurement, including tax compliance, B-BBEE status, and relevant safety, health and environmental obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Construction Regulations.

The project delivers improved hygiene and safety conditions for learners and educators at Esiphiva Primary School, supporting the department's objective of providing adequate school infrastructure in line with national norms. For qualifying contractors, the opportunity offers a defined, medium-term construction contract within a public institution.
