School Sanitation Infrastructure Construction

The Department of Education, through Public Works, is inviting suitably qualified contractors to tender for the construction of new sanitation infrastructure at Nkamelwane Primary School. The scope covers the design-to-construction delivery of new ablution and sanitation facilities, together with associated external works such as site preparation, drainage, connections to existing services, paving, and making good of affected areas. The project forms part of the Department's broader programme to improve learning environments and ensure that learners and educators have access to safe, hygienic, and dignified sanitation facilities.

Bidders must hold a valid CIDB registration at a grading of 5GB or higher in the relevant building category. The contract period is six (6) calendar months from the date of appointment, and the works must be executed in accordance with the tender documentation, including the Bills of Quantities, technical specifications, and applicable South African National Standards (SANS), the National Building Regulations, and relevant occupational health and safety requirements under the Construction Regulations. Contractors should plan their programme carefully to minimise disruption to school operations and to comply with site safety and access controls while learners are on the premises.

The tender documentation comprises two volumes of technical and contractual documents and a tender Bill of Quantities, which should be reviewed in full before submission. Prospective bidders should verify that they meet all compulsory requirements, including tax compliance, B-BBEE status, and company registration documents, and should ensure submissions are received before the closing date of 2 December 2026. Successful delivery of this project will provide lasting infrastructure benefits to the school community and offers a strong opportunity for experienced construction firms with school-building or public-sector experience.
