Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality is requesting quotations (RFQ39/05/2026) for the supply and delivery of 1,000 polypropylene chairs for its community halls. The procurement follows repeated vandalism and theft of chairs across the municipality's halls, which has left many venues without enough seating. This is a re-advertisement of an earlier call. Several community halls were renovated in 2024 to generate revenue, and the municipality states that a shortage of chairs is limiting their use.
The chairs must be made from polypropylene with UV stabilisers so they can withstand outdoor use. Each chair must have a load capacity of at least 120kg and weigh between approximately 1.5kg and 3kg, so it can be moved easily. The design must be space-efficient and stackable to a height of 10 to 20 chairs. Bidders must price the full quantity inclusive of VAT (15%), with transport and delivery costs included. Prices must remain firm for the full contract period and may not be linked to exchange rates. Evaluation uses the 80/20 preference point system: 80 points for price, and up to 20 points for B-BBEE status and a locality/specific goals score (10 points for businesses within Enoch Mgijima, 7 within Chris Hani District, 5 elsewhere in the Eastern Cape, and 3 elsewhere in South Africa).
Mandatory submissions include a company registration document (CK), a valid CSD registration, a SARS tax compliance PIN, a B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit, a company profile showing relevant experience, a costing schedule, and the completed MBD forms (MBD 1, 4, 6.1, 8 and 9). Bids must be sealed, clearly marked, and deposited in the tender box at the Budget and Treasury Office, 25–27 Owen Street, Queenstown, by 12:00 on 2 November 2026.
