Overview

Summary

Appointment of a service provider for comprehensive hardware and software maintenance and support of SITA's Core SDN network infrastructure over 60 months. CSD registration is required. A non-compulsory virtual briefing is on 16 Nov 2026, and bids close 27 Nov 2026.

Detailed Description

The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is inviting bids under RFB 3307/2026 (ERP No 546011) for the appointment of a service provider to deliver comprehensive hardware and software maintenance and support services for its Core Software-Defined Networking (SDN) network infrastructure. The contract period is sixty (60) months. The core network is critical national ICT infrastructure, so the successful bidder will be responsible for keeping hardware and software components operational, supported and current over the full contract term. Given the scope of the tender, the service is expected to cover preventive and corrective maintenance, software support, and fault resolution across the SDN environment. Detailed technical requirements, service levels and deliverables are set out in the Final Bid Specification document.

Bidders must be registered on the Central Supplier Database (CSD), with all company details kept up to date. Bid responses must be submitted through the SITA Supplier Oracle ERP portal (www.suppliers.sita.co.za) by 11:00 on the closing date of 27 November 2026. Submissions must be a single original document in the correct format, following the packaging and sequence set out in the bid documents, with a confirmation tick in the submission checklist. Pricing must be completed in the Excel Final Price Response spreadsheet provided. SITA's step-by-step guidance for the Oracle ERP supplier portal is available on its website. Queries must be submitted in writing to ntombenhle.mkhize@sita.co.za. A non-compulsory virtual briefing session is scheduled for 16 November 2026 at 10:00 via Microsoft Teams, and prospective bidders are encouraged to attend to clarify requirements.

For the successful bidder, the contract offers a long-term, five-year engagement with a major public sector ICT agency, providing stable, recurring revenue and the opportunity to build a strong public sector track record. It also gives the provider a central role in supporting government digital services that depend on reliable network connectivity. Bidders should review the full bid pack, including the Notice to Bidders, Invitation to Bidders, Bid Document and Final Bid Spec, carefully before responding, as compliance with administrative and technical requirements will be assessed.

Suitable Businesses

This tender suits ICT service providers with proven experience in software-defined networking, enterprise network hardware maintenance and multi-year managed support contracts. Strong candidates include OEM-authorised or certified partners for SDN and core networking vendors, managed network service providers, and systems integrators with public sector experience. Businesses must be CSD-registered, compliant with tax and B-BBEE requirements, and able to demonstrate capacity to deliver support across a five-year term. Small businesses are unlikely to qualify without a consortium or subcontracting arrangement for specialist core network skills. Companies should verify the detailed eligibility, experience and certification requirements in the Final Bid Spec before applying, as the listing is currently marked as draft.
