Detailed Description

The Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC), the dedicated developmental agency of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency for the automotive and allied sector, has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ 16448) for the supply and delivery of spray-painting workshop equipment and tools. The equipment will be delivered to the Alexandra Automotive Hub in Marlboro, Sandton, and will support AIDC's programmes to develop automotive manufacturing and related skills in Gauteng, including its focus on BBBEE, SMME development and township transformation.

The RFQ covers 19 line items. These include two 1000L diesel tanks for spray booth burner storage, an infrared drying station, a fluorescent lighting station for the spray area, an industrial wet and dry extraction sanding station, four 15m auto-retractable airline hose reels, 10 PVC airline hoses, 60 airline couplings and connectors, and four dual polishing and sanding machines. Measurement and quality equipment includes two paint thickness gauges and one spectrophotometer for colour analysis. The scope also includes two 4000kg two-post vehicle lifts, six pneumatic spray guns (clearcoat, basecoat, primer, sealer, HVLP and LVLP), paint arrestors for booth filtration, multifunctional paint and body stands, masking film dispensers, a spray booth air regulator, an automatic spray gun cleaning machine, spray gun maintenance kits and a jet blow gun. Several items require a warranty. The lift supplier must also install the lifts, conduct a load test and provide a Certificate of Compliance (COC). Bidders must quote for every item listed on the pricing schedule. Prices must be stated excluding VAT, with VAT at 15% shown separately, and must remain firm for the validity period. Quotes are evaluated on an 80/20 price and preference basis, with 80 points for price and 20 points for B-BBEE status.

To qualify, bidders must submit a SARS PIN, a valid B-BBEE affidavit or verification certificate, a completed SBD 4 (Declaration of Interest), SBD 6.1 and SBD 6.2 preference forms, a fully completed and signed pricing schedule, and a signed Integrity Pact. Pre-qualification requires proof of registration as a lifting machinery entity with the Department of Labour for lifting equipment, and at least two reference letters or contracts from current or previous clients for the supply of workshop equipment and tools. Suppliers should also be registered on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD). Responses must be emailed to quotations@aidc.co.za by 11:00 on 16 November 2026. AIDC personnel, including the SCM official, must not be copied on responses, as this will result in disqualification. Incomplete mandatory documents will invalidate a submission.

Suitable Businesses

Suppliers and distributors of automotive workshop equipment, spray-painting and paint booth equipment, pneumatic tools, vehicle lifts and industrial equipment. Businesses must be able to supply and install two-post lifts with load testing and COC, provide warranties, and hold Department of Labour lifting machinery registration. Applicants need two client references for workshop equipment supply, a current CSD registration and a valid B-BBEE certificate or affidavit. Exempted Micro Enterprises (EMEs) and Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSEs) with strong B-BBEE credentials are well placed to score preference points. Service-only businesses and companies that cannot supply the full range of items should not apply, as partial quotes are not accepted.
