Landside Transport Driver Services - King Shaka Airport

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) is seeking a service provider to supply twelve (12) qualified and authorised drivers for a 12-month contract to support landside transport operations at King Shaka International Airport (KSIA), Durban. The drivers will be divided between six (6) staff shuttle drivers, who transport airport employees between staff parking areas, taxi ranks, bus staging areas, and terminal facilities, and six (6) customer golf-cart drivers, who transport passengers and their luggage, assist persons with reduced mobility, elderly passengers, and families with young children, and respond to customer requests. ACSA will provide the shuttle vehicles and golf carts, along with fuel and fuel cards, while the service provider is responsible for driver staffing, relief cover, and operational compliance.

The service runs seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays, on rotating shifts covering approximately 03:30 to 23:00 or until the last flight lands. The service provider must supply relief drivers at its own cost to cover leave, illness, absenteeism, and training, ensuring uninterrupted service. Each driver must hold a minimum Grade 12/Matric or equivalent, a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) Category P, and an NQF Level 4 or higher qualification where applicable. Drivers must also be medically fit, pass background and security vetting, obtain an ACSA airport security permit and Airside Vehicle Operator Permit (AVOP), and complete airport induction, safety, first aid, fire-safety, customer-care, and passenger-assistance training. Each driver must have at least three years of verifiable professional driving experience, supported by a detailed CV and traceable references.

Tender evaluation is based on a functionality threshold of 70 out of 100 points, covering company experience (at least four completed passenger transportation or shuttle projects, each of at least one year), driver qualifications, and driver experience, followed by price using the 80/20 preference point system, with 20 points available for B-BBEE status and specific goals. Bidders must submit a fully priced offer using the prescribed pricing schedule, valid tax compliance status, CSD registration, B-BBEE certificate, proof of public liability insurance of at least R25,000, and a signed Services Agreement. Contract performance is subject to service level penalties, random audits, quarterly compliance reviews, and POPIA data-protection obligations. The contract provides a stable, multi-year-style operational opportunity for compliant transport and passenger-services providers in KwaZulu-Natal, with the closing date for submissions being 10 November 2026 at 12:00pm.
