This tender seeks a qualified service provider to safely decommission, remediate, and handle contaminated diesel stock from an underground bowser, adhering to South African environmental regulations. Key requirements include extraction, disposal, and certification of hazardous materials.
The Agricultural Research Council is inviting tenders for the decommissioning and remediation of contaminated diesel stock located in an underground bowser. The selected service provider will be responsible for the safe extraction of free-standing contaminated diesel and water phases, as well as the physical scraping and transfer of residual tank bottoms into hazardous waste drums. All washing wastewater must be treated as hazardous chemical runoff, ensuring compliance with the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (NEMWA) and other relevant regulations.
The service provider must demonstrate experience in similar projects by providing at least three completion letters from previous clients, detailing the nature, value, and duration of the projects. Additionally, attendance at a compulsory briefing session will be required to ensure all bidders fully understand the scope and requirements of the tender. A formal Safe Disposal Certificate from the receiving facility must be provided within 14 business days post-extraction, ensuring all operations are conducted in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and SANS 10089-3 standards for underground tank management.
