Stellenbosch Municipality seeks suppliers to manufacture, deliver and install office furniture and equipment across all directorates until 30 June 2029. Bidders must tender for all Melamine and Veneer line items, with 80/20 scoring favouring B-BBEE status and businesses located within WC024.
Stellenbosch Municipality has issued a three-year tender (from date of award until 30 June 2029) for the supply, manufacture, delivery and installation of office furniture and equipment for use across all offices and facilities of its directorates and departments. The contract replaces the previous three-year furniture tender (B/SM 95/23), which expired on 30 June 2026, and furniture will be procured centrally by the Directorate: Corporate Services on behalf of the entire municipality. Orders will be placed as required, with completion expected within 1 to 3 weeks of receiving an official order, and prices must remain firm for the full contract period.
The scope covers 111 line items grouped into three categories. Category A (Melamine, items 1 to 39) and Category B (Veneer, items 40 to 66) include workstations, desks, mobile drawer units, workstation units with roller or swing doors, modesty panels, systems cupboards, bookshelves, meeting room tables from four to sixteen seats, executive workstations, server units and reception and hot desks. Category C (items 67 to 111) covers desk-based and floor-standing upholstered screens, standard, executive, ergonomic and visitor chairs, soft seating, café and canteen furniture, reception and steel lockers and storage, training tables, magnetic whiteboards and accessories such as coat stands, trolleys, cash safes, carpet protectors and guillotines. Specifications require minimum product lifespans, specified load capacities for chairs, and defined upholstery standards such as a minimum Martindale rating of 50,000 rubs. Bidders must tender for all Melamine and Veneer items to be deemed compliant; Category C items are awarded per item to the highest-scoring bidder.
Evaluation is based on an 80/20 preference point system, with 80 points for price, up to 10 points for B-BBEE status level and up to 10 points for locality within the Stellenbosch municipal area. Mandatory requirements include CSD registration, a valid tax compliance status, a compulsory online clarification meeting on 16 November 2026 (with attendance notice required 48 hours in advance), and at least three contactable references for projects of similar nature worth at least R300,000 over the past 36 months. Tenders close on 30 November 2026 at 12h00 and must be valid for 180 days. The contract is subject to a Service Level Agreement, and the tender document costs R510 if obtained as a hard copy. For suppliers with the capacity to furnish and fit out public-sector offices, this offers a substantial, multi-year revenue opportunity with price stability and recurring demand.
Office furniture manufacturers, importers and distributors, and commercial furniture suppliers with installation capacity, particularly those able to manufacture or supply melamine and veneer workstations, meeting tables, storage units and seating to specification. Businesses based within the Stellenbosch municipal area (WC024) benefit from the locality points, and EMEs/QSEs with strong B-BBEE credentials are well positioned under the 80/20 scoring model. Suppliers must be registered on the CSD, tax compliant, able to attend the compulsory clarification meeting, and have completed at least three similar projects worth R300,000 or more in the past 36 months. Bidders without the capacity to tender for all Melamine and Veneer line items should consider Category C items only, which are awarded per item.
